
For Halloween, replace the overpackaged candy by this homemade recipe for Gingerbread Zombies! It’s healthier, natural, creates a lot less waste than candy and is a fun activity to make with the kids 😉
Ingredients:
350g plain flour
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
3 tsp ground ginger
100g vegetable oil
175g soft light brown sugar
1 free range egg, beaten
4 tbsp golden syrup
Colour icing for the decorations
Recipe (approx 20 biscuits):
1️⃣ Preheat oven 190°C/374°F
2️⃣ Put the flour, ginger, soda and oil into a bowl and mix
3️⃣ Add and stir up the sugar, syrup and egg to make a firm dough
4️⃣ Roll out to about 5mm thick and cut out your gingerbread zombies.
5️⃣ Put a sheet of baking paper on a tray and bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown
6️⃣ Leave to firm up for 2 min.
7️⃣ Once cooled, decorate with icing to make your zombies really spooky.
