Everybody knows that smoking is bad for your health. But did you know how bad it is for the environment?
Cigarette filters are mainly made of plastic fibers, and leach toxic chemicals into the environment and can contaminate water. The toxic exposure can poison fish, as well as animals who eat cigarette butts.
When throwing a cigarette butt on the floor, there is a huge chance that it will end up in the sea, as cigarette butts are washed out through the drains, rivers and ultimately the sea.
So if you smoke, always carry with you a portable ashtray. They are the size of a key ring and are very handy. Never throw cigarette butts on the floor, instead put them on the portable ashtray until you find a bin. Easy!
