Japan recycles 98% of its metals

Did you know?

In Japan, it is illegal to throw away household appliances (computers, TVs, fridges, dishwashers…).

The country has very strict recycling laws, and household appliances are recycled to collect as many metal scraps as possible.

When a customer buys a new appliance, there is a recycling tax collected that is used to pay for the recycling plants.

Recycling laws have created a recycling culture, where very few waste goes into landfill.
