Sri Lanka to ban mobile sawmills in the next 5 years

Sri Lanka will close all the mobile sawmills in the next 5 years, to fight deforestation and increase the forest coverage in the country.

The government has also decided to register all the users of chainsaws, to fight against illegal tree cutting. Tree coverage in Sri Lanka is currently of 28%.
