The London Marathon handed out edible water capsules

Did you know?

The 2019 London Marathon handed out edible water capsules to runners in a bid to use less plastic bottles and reduce the amount of waste generated by the event.

These capsules were developed by a London start-up and are called Notpla. They are made from natural seaweed membrane. They can be eaten, or can biodegrade within 6 weeks if thrown away.

Hopefully we will see more of this next year, and bring the amount of plastic waste to zero! 😉
