The Netherlands cut the national speed limit to fight climate change.

The new law will be implemented from 2020 and speed limit will be reduced from 130km/h (81 mph) to 100km/h (62mph).

Reducing the speed is expected to reduce carbon emissions significantly on the road, but also the number of serious accidents.

However, this new speed limit will only be applicable during the day, and the old speed limit will be in place during the night, between 7pm and 6am.
