TOP12 fruits and vegetables containing the most pesticides

Top 12 fruits and vegs that contain the most pesticides, also known as the dirty dozen. 🍓

This study was carried out by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), using data from the U.S Department of Agriculture.

It concluded that 70% of conventionally grown fruits and vegs contain up to 230 different pesticides. Although some of them have been banned, they are still found in some of the samples tested.

On top of the list, the sample of strawberries tested contained more than 20 different pesticides. Spinach contained twice as much pesticides residue in weight as any other fruit or veg.

The study found that 98% of peaches, cherries and apples contained at least one pesticide.

What can we do? 🤔

Fruits and vegs are good for our health, and we should be eating more of them!

It is just important to understand where these fruits and vegs come from and how they are being produced.

Remember, pesticides are thought to be potentially linked to lower fertility, or cancer, but the long term impact of these products on our health is still unclear.

However, it is now clear and demonstrated that pesticides have a devastating impact on our planet. The toxic chemicals pollute soils and water sources. For instance, in many places around the world where intensive agriculture takes place, it is not possible to drink tap water.

Unfortunately, there is no easy solution. It is very difficult to know how the fruits and vegs we buy at the supermarket, or even at our local market have been produced.

Organic fruits and vegs are generally grown with less pesticides and toxic chemicals. Why not make the switch?
