The UK is now second after Norway, which will ban fossil fuel vehicle sales by 2025. This is part of what the prime minister called a “green industrial revolution”.
In addition, the government pledged a package of 4 billion pounds of public investment. The COP26 will be hosted in the UK in 2021 and the president of the COP26 hopes that the plan will bring thousands of jobs, especially in offshore wind.
The plan also includes:
• Creation of a new nuclear plant
• Extension of the green homes grant for home insulation
• Clean hydrogen will be blended into the natural gas supply to reduce overall emissions from gas
• £1.3bn investment in electric vehicle (EV) charging points.
